[URANOS: Activity]

The Club activities:

What we want and can do?

The question arises: How can we, individual people, inhabitants of not too large and not too rich a country, benefit from space exploration, and how can we contribute to the establishment of a permanent human presence outside Earth?

One may think: "Not too much".

Please note, however, that space exploration is nowadays by no means so difficult and expensive, as many still seem to think. The Mars Pathfinder mission cost only $175 million, fully in reach of even a small European country, just like Poland. You no longer need to be a superpower to explore and conquer space.

Moreover, contribution to the development of science and technology is not always directly proportional to the amount of money spent, or to the political or economic position of a country. Intelligent people are born everywhere. Also, when speaking about space research and exploration, the contribution of people of Polish origin is not so minute as one may think. Let us mention here the two widely known names of Copernicus and Tsiolkovsky. Possibly, the discoverer of some as-yet-unknown principles of space travel will happen to be of Polish origin. To make such an accomplishment possible, and to prevent it from being overlooked and wasted, we should already start to labor toward advancing among Poles all over the world the awareness of the fact that advancement of our civilization cannot proceed without development of space research and exploration, and that every one of us can, to smaller or larger degree, contribute to the achievement of these goals.

The spreading and advancement of that awareness constitutes the primary goal of this site.

URANOS website

Our first action was the development of this very site, as a means for presenting the space exploration message to the public, and as a meeting point for people sharing our opinions on the matter. Hence we are eager to know your opinions on the site, and proposals and ideas for our activities which you - just visiting our site - may want to share with us. Please send remarks, comments (or even, possibly, words of sympathy and support?), and any ideas concerning form and methods of our activities, by e-mail to kontakt@uranos.eu.org.
